Recipes

We've had some wonderful homemade treats brought to our guild meetings.  Here are a few of the recipes that have been submitted.

Toffee Bars  (Vanya)

1/2 box of graham crackers
1 stick of butter
1 stick of margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup sliced almonds (chopped pecans, if you prefer)

Preheat oven to 350'. Line a jellyroll pan with foil. Separate crackers into single pieces and place on foil lined pan very close together. Melt butter and margarine in saucepan. Stir in sugar and bring to a slow boil. Cook for 2 minutes. Pour mixture over crackers and sprinkle with almonds. Bake for exactly 10 minutes. Using a spatula, immediately remove hot toffee bars onto a fresh sheet of foil to cool.

Quick and Easy Fudge  (Vanya)

1 pkg. (lb) confectioners sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 stick butter/margarine
2 tsp. vanilla
chopped pecans (optional)

Line a 8 x 8 pan with foil.  Sift together conf. sugar and cocoa into microwavable bowl. Add the evaporated milk and the stick of butter. DO NOT STIR!!!  Place in microwave and cook for 2 1/2 minutes or until butter is just melted.  Add vanilla and stir until all ingredients are well blended. You can add chopped pecans at this point if you so desire.  Spoon into foil lined pan and smooth top. Place in freezer for 10 minutes to set.

Party Rye Bread (Pat B.)

1 loaf party rye bread
1 jar dried beef
Swiss cheese
1 stick of margarine, melted
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1 tbsp. prepared mustard

Melt the margarine and add the onions and mustard and mix together. Put 1 slice of beef with a piece of Swiss cheese between every other slice of rye
bread, to make little sandwiches. Drizzle mustard mixture into each little sandwich. Pour the remainder of the melted mixture over the top of the entire loaf. Wrap completely in foil. Bake on cookie sheet at 350' for approximately 15 minutes. These are super easy and super quick.

1, 8oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
½ cup finely chopped green pepper
2 Tbsp. chopped green onion
